Designer’s Explanation: The MJSA logo includes ancient and modern elements in the millenia-old Roman initials combined with the modern, freer italic style of lettering. The Havdalah candle, a traditional symbol separating the sacred from the everyday, illuminates the world with the light of knowledge about Jewish history, religion, and culture, and is made of intertwined units, showing the many fields that come together to create Jewish Studies. – Dr. Stephen Cohen
